The shear power spectrum from the COMBO-17 survey

We perform a statistical weak lensing or “cosmic shear” analysis of the COMBO-17 survey – a unique dataset with shear quality R-band imaging and accurate photometric redshift estimates (σz = 0.05) for ∼ 90% of galaxies to mR ≤ 24.0. We undertake a full maximum likelihood analysis to measure directly from the data the weak lensing power spectra, C l , C ββ l and C l in 5 band powers from l = 400...

The INTEGRAL/IBIS AGN catalogue: an update

In the most recent IBIS survey based on observations performed during the first 1000 orbits of INTEGRAL, are listed 363 high energy emitters firmly associated with AGN, 107 of which are reported here for the first time. We have used X-ray data to image the IBIS 90% error circle of all the AGN in the sample of 107, in order to obtain the correct X-ray counterparts, locate them with arcsec accura...

Evolution of Optically Faint Agn from Combo - 17 and Gems

We have mapped the AGN luminosity function and its evolution between z = 1 and z = 5 down to apparent magnitudes of R < 24. Within the GEMS project we have analysed HST-ACS images of many AGN in the Extended Chandra Deep Field South, enabling us to assess the evolution of AGN host galaxy properties with cosmic time.

Cosmological constraints from COMBO-17 using 3D weak lensing

We present the first application of the 3D cosmic shear method developed in Heavens et al. (2006) and the geometric shear-ratio analysis developed in Taylor et al. (2006), to the COMBO-17 data set. 3D cosmic shear has been used to analyse galaxies with redshift estimates from two random COMBO-17 fields covering 0.52 square degrees in total, providing a conditional constraint in the (σ8, Ωm) pla...

COMBO - 17 measurements of the effect of environment on the type - dependent galaxy luminosity function

We have developed a method to calculate overdensities in multicolour surveys, facilitating a direct comparison of the local density contrast measured using galaxy samples that have different redshift error distributions, i.e. for red and blue, or bright and faint galaxies, respectively. We calculate overdensities in small redshift slices (∆z = 0.02, which at z = 0.3 corresponds roughly to ∆rcom...
